You might not know this, but before selling luxury real estate at The Oppenheim Group, I actually worked as a bartender at Katana in West Hollywood! Those late nights mixing drinks taught me so much about crafting the perfect cocktail. Today, I’m sharing my absolute favorite holiday drinks that I love making at home, especially when Romain and I are hosting.
Bar Essentials
Before we dive into the recipes, here are the bar tools I swear by:
– A quality cocktail shaker set
– Premium jigger for precise measurements
These basics will help you create professional-quality drinks at home!
French 75 with a Twist
This is my go-to for special occasions, and it’s become a tradition when celebrating deals at The Oppenheim Group. Romain introduced me to the French variation, and it’s absolutely divine.
Recipe:
– 1 oz premium gin
– 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
– 1/2 oz simple syrup
– Champagne or Prosecco to top
– Lemon twist for garnish
Premium Spirits
Classic Mulled Wine (Vin Chaud)
This recipe comes directly from Romain’s family in France, and it’s perfect for those rare chilly LA evenings.
Recipe:
– 1 bottle dry red wine
– 1 orange, sliced
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 4 whole cloves
– 2 star anise
– 2 tbsp honey
– Optional: 1 oz cognac
Mulling Spices & Wine
Spicy Pomegranate Margarita
This is a crowd favorite when I’m hosting the Selling Sunset girls for the holidays. It’s festive, has a kick, and photographs beautifully (which you know is important in our world! 😉).
Recipe:
– 2 oz silver tequila
– 1 oz fresh lime juice
– 1 oz pomegranate juice
– 1/2 oz agave nectar
– Jalapeño slice
– Pomegranate seeds for garnish
– Tajín rim
Cocktail Glassware
Pro Tips (From My Bartending Days):
1. Always use fresh citrus – it makes a huge difference
2. Invest in large, clear ice cubes for prettier drinks
3. Keep simple syrup in your fridge – it lasts for weeks!
Remember, the best cocktails are the ones shared with people you love. These recipes have been part of so many special moments in my life – from celebrations at The Oppenheim Group to quiet evenings at home with Romain.
Would love to hear what you’re mixing up this holiday season! Share your favorite recipes in the comments below.
Cheers!
